Playlist of songs used during Paris Fashion Week on vogue.de. The editors of the website of German Vogue made a playlist with 10 tracks that were played or performed during recent Paris Fashion Week. The 10-tracks list includes contemporary songs such as “Lotus Flower” by Radiohead or classics such as “I’m your man” by Leonard Cohen. Check out the full list here.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: CHANEL S/S 2012

Chanel RTW Spring/Summer Collection 2012. Karl Lagerfeld has a thing for gigantesque set-ups. And for young female singers. Proof is the latest Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week. This time emperor Karl came up with a huge fairytale winter wonderland setting – no, wait – it was actually meant to be an underwater world with corals, shells and sea horses. Matching the white landscape the models, too, were dressed all in light shades. Well, at least the first outfits and throughout the collection shades of white and off-white, light yellow and old rose were presented. The collection’s look is a mix of girly, pretty chic with lots of ruffles and tulle plus minimalist elements such as simple sweaters, lapel-less jackets, simple A-line skirts or even hot pants and leather jackets. Linear, graphic prints which added a touch of zeitgeist to the classic Chanel tweed are just one of the many details. Altogether there was lots of little things to discover since Karl Lagerfeld created no less than 83 looks which is about twice as much as other collections count. As mentioned in the beginning of this post here the news on Lagerfeld’s predilection for female singers: Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine was this season’s live performer. It seems like Chanel lured the (Ex-?) Gucci-muse from Italy to France….

Chanel RTW Frühjahr/Simmer Kollektion 2012. Karl Lagerfeld liebt giganteske Set-ups und den Auftritt junger Sängerinnen bei seinen Shows. Das ist bekannt. Dieses Mal konnte sich der Designer des Hauses Chanel wieder mal austoben und entschied sich für ein Winterwunderland. Moment, eigentlich sollte das weiße Setting eine Unterwasserwelt mit Korallen, Seesternen und Seepferdchen darstellen. Ein wenig Kitsch muss sein, aber wieauchimmer: Es wurde die Frühjahr/Sommer-Kollektion gezeigt und die sah tatsächlich sommerlich aus: Es gab viele helle Töne, Pastell und Altrosa zu sehen – zumindest im ersten Teil der Show, die mit 83 Outftis einmal mehr im Grunde von allem etwas zeigen konnte; immerhin sind das circa doppelt so viele Teile, wie bei den meisten anderen Modehäusern. In Saceh Look hatte sich Kaiser Karl dieses Mal anscheinend auf den Mix von romantisch und cool eingeschossen. Neben viel Rüschen und Tüll zeigte er auch reverslose Jacken und Blazer, Pullover mit Rundhals-Ausschnitt, einfache, ausgestellte Röcke und sogar Hot Pants und Lederjacken. Und apropos junge Sängerinnen, wie am Anfang erwähnt: Nach Lily Allen oder Beth Ditto durfte dieses Mal Florence Welch von Florence & The Machine zur Chanel Show singen. Es scheint, als ob Lagerfeld die bisherige (Ex-?) Gucci-Muse von Italien nach Frankreich hat locken können…

PARIS FASHION WEEK: CÉLINE S/S 2012

Céline Spring/Summer Collection 2012. Phoebe Philo’s take on Céline‘s Spring/Summer collection is surprising for anyone who’s been a fan of her rather minimalist approach she had presented for the past two years. Well, it’s not a new style for Phoebe Philo’s mom, who explains (as seen in the video embedded above) that her daughter’s graduation collection has already been an exploration of three-dimensionality. And it seems Phoebe Philo is finally continuing this idea. The result is a very couture-y, very shaped collection with stiff jackets, round sleeves, huge belts and pockets. Material-wise the collection also has a lot of nice ideas to offer such as pleated leather or pants covered in mesh. Probably not the easiest collection to wear for anyone who’s trying to present her female attributes – but it’s pretty obvious that some of the ideas will be seen on the streets next summer.

Céline Frühjahr/Sommer Kollektion 2012. Phoebe Philos Kollektion für Celine ist dieses Mal ein wenig überraschened. Zumindest für jene, die in den letzten zwei Jahren eher Fan der minimalistischen Entwürfe der Designerin waren. Für die Mutter von Phoebe Philo kommt der Wandel hingegen nicht überraschend: Sie weiss zu berichten (siehe Video oben), dass ihre Tochter schon in ihrer Studien-Abschluss-Kollektion eine Hang zu dreidimensionalen Formen hatte. Die Frühjahr/Sommer-Kollektion des Pariser Hauses kommt in jedem Fall sehr „geformt“ daher und umschreibt den Körper mit steifen und zum Teil ungewöhnlichen Formen. Eine scheinbar sehr von der Couture-Kunst beeinflusste Kollektion, die mit runden, weiten Ärmeln, großen Taschen und Gürteln beeindruckt. In Sachen Materialien gibt es ebenfalls einiges zu entdecken, etwa gefälteltes Leder oder Hosen in mit Mesh-Überzug. Die Entwürfe sind nicht unbedingt einfach zu tragen, aber einige Elemente werden in jedem Fall kommenden Sommer auf den Straßen zu sehen sein.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: LANVIN S/S 2012

Lanvin Spring/Summer Collection 2011. Alber Elbaz, Creative Director at Lanvin, created a look for “angels and a little bit of hell – next to angels” as the designer put it himself. But actually the collection just looked like it was made for strong women. And strength is what Alber Elbaz likes – not power because “power is what you can buy in banks.” However, the designer made his goal: The looks all seemed as if they were made for tough women from head-to-toe – with a rebellious yet glamourous touch. The accessories were very important this time: geometric bags, loads of all kinds of oversized jewelry and high heels completed the outfits. The clothes themselves were rather minimalist and came with an emphasized shoulder line. But in the end of the show Alber Elbaz also showed some dressed that were presented without all the accessories – simply beautifully draped, asymmetric dresses… so here’s your choice for next season: more is more means waering the look plus accessories or less is more – simply going for the clothes.

Lanvin Frühjahr/Simmer Kollektion 2011. Alber Elbaz hat sich dieses Mal von Engeln inspirieren lassen – und der Hölle geich daneben. Und von Stärke – nicht zu verwechseln mit Macht, denn das sei etwas, das man kaufen könne, während Stärke aus Liebe resultiere. Tiefgründige Worte des Chefdesigners bei Lanvin. Optisch kam das ganze als opulentes Œuvre daher. Zumindest im Anfangs-und Mittelteil, wo vor allem die Accessoires um Aufmerksamkeit buhlten: Tonnen von Schmuckstücken jeglicher Art waren zu sehen, geometrische, geradlinige Taschen und hohe, glitzernde Absätze. Die Kleidungstücke an sich kamen eher schlicht daher, aber mit stets betonter Schulterpartie. Am Ende aber gab es dann doch noch wunderschöne, drapierte Schlichtheit und Raffinesse in Kleidform zu sehen. Man hat als Lanvin-Kunde für kommenden Sommer also die Wahl: Mehr ist mehr = Lanvin plus Accessoires oder: Weniger ist mehr = Lanvin pur.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: DIOR S/S 2012

Christian Dior RTW Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Twenty-three years is a long time – and that’s exactly how long Bill Gaytten has been working for John Galliano. The 51-year old designer has been Galliano’s right hand before the Brit was fired from the Parisian fashion house Dior due his anti-semitic statement. After lots of rumors who’d be Galliano’s successor, Gaytten was named team leader in June. The word used most often to describe the new Dior collection seems to be “safe” – the silhouette is deeply inspired by the Fifties and afterall the New Look has been invented by Christian Dior himself. But safe is not necessarily wrong: The label has already seen lots of eccentric moments in the past…well, after this season’s show Bill Gaytten briefly and shyly appeared on the catwalk after the show, but the question will remain the same: who will be the designer for next season? Will Bill Gaytten remain the head designer or he be replaced by someone famous?

Christian Dior RTW Frühjahr/Sommer Kollektion 2012. Dreiundzwanzig Jahre sind eine lange Zeit – genau so lange hat Bill Gaytten für John Galliano gearbeitet und nachdem dieser von Dior geschasst wurde, entschied man sich beim Hause Dior, Bill Gaytten die Kollektionserarbeitung anzuvertrauen. Der 51-jährige hat sich für die kommende Frühjahr/Sommer-Saison für eine „sichere“ Variante entschieden: Hübsch, tragbar und ganz in der Tradition des Hauses steht Gayttens Look. Immerhin sind die Fünfzigerjahre, die die Kollektion stark prägen, einst die glorreiche Ära von Christian Dior gewesen. Aber egal wie gut die Kollektion ankommen mag – die Frage wird wohl weiterhin im Raum stehen: Wer wird nächste Saison für Dior designen? Wir Gaytten der verantwortliche Designer bleiben oder doch durch einen bekannteren Namen ersetzt werden?

PARIS FASHION WEEK: HAIDER ACKERMANN

Haider Ackermann Spring/Summer Collection 2011. It’s probably been one of this season’s most anticipated shows, and as Tim Blanks of style.com sais in the video embedded above: Haider Ackermann didn’t let anyone down. The collection is very sexy, using lots of semi-transparent fabrics and exposing certain parts of the body while covering others, but of course the Haider-Ackermann-sexiness always is a very subtle one. The designer presented lots of jumpsuits and drape-y, floaty dresses yet also perfectly tailored jackets. A truly beautiful collection – also color-wise: Besides black there were down-toned shades of purple and green to be spotted, shades of grey but also bright colors such as blue an turquoise. The shimmering of the taft Ackermann used for lots of outfits will definitely will a trend for next summer season.

Haider Ackermann Frühjahr/Sommer Kollektion 2011. Es war sicherlich eine der meist erwarteten Shows diese Saison und Haider Ackermann enttäuschte bestimmt niemanden. So sieht es zumindest auch style.com-Reporter Tim Blanks. The Kollektion beweist einmal mehr, dass Ackermann einerseits der Meister des Drapierens ist und andererseits Schnittkunst perfekt beherrscht. Neben fließenden Kleidern, Röcken und Einteilern gab es körpernahe Jacken und Blazer zu sehen. Das Spiel mit männlichen und weiblichen Elementen steht auch dieses Mal – typisch Ackermann – wieder im Vordergrund. In Sachen Farben gab es neben Schwarz und dunklen Lilatönen, auch leuchtene Töne, wie Blau und Türkis zu sehen. Ein Trend für kommende Saison ist sicher der matte Schimmer des Seidentafts.

PARIS: GIVENCHY MEN’S S/S 2012

Givenchy Frühjahr/Sommer Männer-Kollektion 2012 in Paris vorgestellt. Bei Männern in Röcken denkt man zuerst an Jean-Paul Gaultier – aber auch Riccardo Tisci, Kreativdirektor sieht den Mann im schwingenden Röckchen. Zumindest für die kommende Sommersaison. Und die würde sogar Marcus Ebner (Achtung Magazin), wie man im Video sehen kann. Aber abgesehen von dieser Vision, war bei der Givenchy-Kollektion auch sonst einiges anders – der Italiener Tisci der es sonst gerne schwarz, schwer und streng mag hat die Leichtigkeit für sich entdeckt. Das Ergebnis sind helle Farben, vor allem helle Grüntöne, Paillettenpullover, überdimensionale Blumenprints. Dazu addierte er ein wenig Hip-Hop-Holiday-Style mit Basekaps und Plastiksandalen. Passt gut für den kommenden Sommer in Miami…

Givenchy Spring/Summer Men’s Collection 2012 presented in Paris. Thinking of men in skirts, the first thing that comes to my mind is Jean-Paul Gaultier. But Riccardo Tisci for too, sees men ins skirts. At least for next summer season. The Creative Director of the French fashion house Givenchy sent his models in pleated and printed skirts onto the catwalk. The whole collection was surprisingly light and colorful with lots of greenish shades, big flower prints or sequenced fabrics. Base caps and sandals added a touch of Hip-Hop-meets-holiday-style. Altogether this collection is the perfect vacation getaway collection. Might not match the French Riviera but Miami for sure…

PARIS: CHANEL FALL/WINTER 2011/12

Chanel Herbst/Winter Kollektion 2011/12. Nach einem überdimensionalen Löwen und einem riesigen, echten Eisblock durfte man gespannt sein, was Karl Lagerfeld sich dieses Mal als Thema der Laufsteg-Inszenierung erdacht hatte. Gezeiten und Endzeitstimmung schien das Thema zu sein: Schwarzes, dampfendes Geröll war seitlich des Laufstegs drapiert und auch der Catwalk-Backdrop öffnete sich unter Nebelschwaden um die Models auszuspucken. Die kamen in Nuancen von Grau über Anthrazit bis Schwarz daher. Passend zur mystischen, dunklen Stimmung spielte ein Mix des The Cure Songs „A Forest“. Modetechnisch hatte Lagerfeld passend dazu wenig schicke Kleidchen und High-Heels kreiert, sondern mehr Bequem-robustes. Das aber natürlich auf die Chanel-Art: Es gab weite, umgekrempelte Hosen zu sehen, übereinander getragene Jacken (Blazer und darüber ein Chanel-Jäckchen) und mit flachen Schuhen im Herren-Stil daher. Zu engen Hosen gab es weit Capes und Jacken; zwischendrin Jumpsuits in Stepp-Optik oder Tweed, sowie bodenlange Kleider. Chanel-Chic trifft Streetstyle trifft Endzeitstimmung macht alles in allem eine sehr tragbare Kollektion, die wohl besonders bei den Lagerfeld’schen Fans der neuen Generation sicherlich gut ankommt. Als da wären Lily Allen oder das neue Chanel-Werbegesicht Blake Lively…

Chanel Fall/Winter 2011/12 Collection. Chanel‘s last shows came with impressing set-ups: remember the gigantic lion in the middle of the catwalk or the huge ice rock a year ago. Well, this time designer Karl Lagerfeld was in an apocalyptic mood it seems: black steaming rocks delimited the runway and the catwalk’s backdrop opened in wafts of mist while The Cure‘s “A Forest” was played in a mystic remix. The models who walked down the runway mostly in flat men’s shoes (or very low heels) wore shades from grey to black. Wide pants (rolled up above the ankle) were combined with loose jackets of which some were worn on top of each other (e.g.: Chanel‘s tweed jacket on top of the blazer). Skinny pants came with wide jackets and capes. Jumpsuits (quilted or made of tweed) and long dresses were shown in-between. Quite a comfy collection. Actually a mix of Chanel‘s chic meets streetstyle (and Apocalypse-next-season). Lagerfeld’s fans of the next generation will probably love the collection. Think of Lily Allen or Blake Lively…

PARIS: CELINE FALL/WINTER 2011/12

Celine Herbst/Winter 2011/12 Kollektion in Paris präsentiert. Wie kaum eine andere Designerin konnte Phoebe Philo, Kreativ-Chefin des französischen Modehauses Celine ihr Leitmotiv so klar formulieren: Autos. Und das konnte man auch sehen. Schweres Leder, als Mäntel oder nur als Einsätze an Hosen, Röcken, Tops oder als Manschetten. Schnörkelloses Design und klare Linien bestimmten den Celine-Look. Der wird sich sicherlich erneut gut verkaufen und das nicht nur von Damen, die Mode passend zu ihrem Fahrzeug suchen…

Celine Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection presented in Paris. Unlike hardly any other designer this season Phoebe Philo (Creative Director of Celine) was able to name her source of inspiration precisely: cars. Knowing that, one could really see her leitmotiv walking down the runway: Philo used lots of brown, grey, beige and dark red, she went for heavy leather made as coats or simply used as inserts in pants, skirts or tops. Altogether the Celine collection once again comes as a very unfussy one which will probably sell well. Not only to women who like their clothing to match their car…
