Fashion Week Berlin – Lala Berlin F/W 2012. The first model already proves that floor length skirts may be showstopping, but also for the wrong reasons: She trips, mutters a blasé “Fuck“, gets on with it. This brings us to the point: Whatever Lala Berlin shows, the collection always has a touch of rock’n’roll. The patterns and materials are wild, daring, maybe even questionable – but in a way that’s actually spot on. Though, getting it right in this case means being slightly off kilter – too many patterns and incongruous colors. Nevertheless herein also lies the strength of the collection – it’s not here to please, but provoke and question common taste. True, I can’t make up my mind. Another highlight is the element of surprise – you never know what’s coming next. What am I looking for? A common theme! Where do I find it? There isn’t one. It occurs to me that this is refreshing, and most importantly, really good.

NEWS: THREE DAYS OF FASHION WEEK IN ISRAEL

Israel’s Fashion Week shows spring/summer collections. It’s the first fashion week in Tel Aviv and the first fashion week in Israel since the 1980s. Israel’s Minister of Tourism Misezhnikov stated: “The Ministry of Tourism invests significant resources and uses various means to reach out to new markets and advertise the attractive tourism product Israel has to offer. Fashion aficionados tend to follow new and leading trends, and are attracted to cultural, historical and entertainment options which are all part of Israel’s unique tourism product.”

More 60 international fashion journalists were invited and about 20,000 guest in total, to watch about 30 collection by Israeli and inernational designers and – and one grand seigneur: Roberto Cavalli. The Italian designer celebrated the 40th jubilee of his fashion brand this year and opened the event.

Frühjahr/Sommer Kollektion während Fashion Week in Israel vorgestellt. Es ist die erste Modewoche seit 30 Jahren in Israel und die erst überhaupt in Tel Aviv. Israels Tourismusminister Stas Misezhnikov gab dazu zu Protokoll: „Fashion Aficionados neigen dazu, den neusten und führenden Trends zu folgen. Sie interessieren sich für Kultur, Geschichte und Unterhaltung, und all das ist Teil von Tourismus in Israel“.

Die modische Vielschichtigkeit konnten dann unter anderem über 60 internationale Journalisten und über 20.000 während des dreitätigen Events beobachten. Es präsentierten sich nationale und internationale Designer – Stargast des Events war Roberto Cavalli.

PARIS FASHION WEEK: CHANEL S/S 2012

Chanel RTW Spring/Summer Collection 2012. Karl Lagerfeld has a thing for gigantesque set-ups. And for young female singers. Proof is the latest Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week. This time emperor Karl came up with a huge fairytale winter wonderland setting – no, wait – it was actually meant to be an underwater world with corals, shells and sea horses. Matching the white landscape the models, too, were dressed all in light shades. Well, at least the first outfits and throughout the collection shades of white and off-white, light yellow and old rose were presented. The collection’s look is a mix of girly, pretty chic with lots of ruffles and tulle plus minimalist elements such as simple sweaters, lapel-less jackets, simple A-line skirts or even hot pants and leather jackets. Linear, graphic prints which added a touch of zeitgeist to the classic Chanel tweed are just one of the many details. Altogether there was lots of little things to discover since Karl Lagerfeld created no less than 83 looks which is about twice as much as other collections count. As mentioned in the beginning of this post here the news on Lagerfeld’s predilection for female singers: Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine was this season’s live performer. It seems like Chanel lured the (Ex-?) Gucci-muse from Italy to France….

Chanel RTW Frühjahr/Simmer Kollektion 2012. Karl Lagerfeld liebt giganteske Set-ups und den Auftritt junger Sängerinnen bei seinen Shows. Das ist bekannt. Dieses Mal konnte sich der Designer des Hauses Chanel wieder mal austoben und entschied sich für ein Winterwunderland. Moment, eigentlich sollte das weiße Setting eine Unterwasserwelt mit Korallen, Seesternen und Seepferdchen darstellen. Ein wenig Kitsch muss sein, aber wieauchimmer: Es wurde die Frühjahr/Sommer-Kollektion gezeigt und die sah tatsächlich sommerlich aus: Es gab viele helle Töne, Pastell und Altrosa zu sehen – zumindest im ersten Teil der Show, die mit 83 Outftis einmal mehr im Grunde von allem etwas zeigen konnte; immerhin sind das circa doppelt so viele Teile, wie bei den meisten anderen Modehäusern. In Saceh Look hatte sich Kaiser Karl dieses Mal anscheinend auf den Mix von romantisch und cool eingeschossen. Neben viel Rüschen und Tüll zeigte er auch reverslose Jacken und Blazer, Pullover mit Rundhals-Ausschnitt, einfache, ausgestellte Röcke und sogar Hot Pants und Lederjacken. Und apropos junge Sängerinnen, wie am Anfang erwähnt: Nach Lily Allen oder Beth Ditto durfte dieses Mal Florence Welch von Florence & The Machine zur Chanel Show singen. Es scheint, als ob Lagerfeld die bisherige (Ex-?) Gucci-Muse von Italien nach Frankreich hat locken können…
